Cluny Brown

This silly comedy of manners from Ernst Lubitsch is set in pre-WWII England and stars Jennifer Jones as the title character. Cluny is a young woman who has a knack for plumbing, even though she is sent to be a parlor maid at a stuffy country manor. She proceeds to turn the household upside down, all while falling for a Czech refugee fleeing Nazi persecution. Lubitsch’s famous touch is on full display in this topsy-turvy send-up of the British class hierarchy.
