The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

Frequently cited as the last truly great film of director John Ford’s career, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE subverts the western genre with a complex story about truth, celebrity, and violence. With the story largely framed in flashbacks, Jimmy Stewart plays a senator who returns to the western town of Shinbone years after becoming famous for killing a notorious outlaw. Featuring gorgeous black and white cinematography, this film also showcases magnificent performances from Stewart, John Wayne, and Lee Marvin.
